Riverview Staff,

After this week, the next time we're back together will be in 2017!  Let's wear jeans our first week back (maybe jeans with an elastic waistline if you plan to eat, drink, and be merry over break!).  I am hopeful that our second semester is full of student growth and excitement about school.  Thank you for all you do to make your classrooms warm, caring, safe places where students develop positive relationships with peers and adults.   I truly have enjoyed first semester and I look forward to what the near future holds in the spring...and if you thought the fall was busy, just wait for May! Luckily that's many calm months away!!

**Happy Dec. 22 Birthday to Cheri Eskina!

  • Afternoon PD -- 1:00 pm - report back to Riverview for ALICE Part 2 Training.

    • This will be very similar to the training we conducted last January in which scenarios were simulated and we reviewed intruder protocol as a staff.  It will be led by Officer Mo and other district SROs. Officer Mo will run staff through three different scenarios, and then provide time for debriefing at the end.  He stated that individuals who have completed the training feel more prepared and safe than they do before the training.  I highly recommend all staff that are at Riverview on a daily basis taking this opportunity to gain new skills and experiences that contribute to student and staff safety.

      • For those who are willing and able to participate in the ALICE Part II training, please make note that you will need to dress in comfortable, loose, layered clothing that afternoon (for example, jeans and two sweatshirts or light jacket) in order to protect the impact of rubber BBs during the modules.  Thank you for your consideration, and for all everyone does to keep students safe here at Riverview!!

      • **If you have medical or other reasons that you choose not to participate, there will be an alternate ALICE professional development opportunity for you.  For planning purposes, certified staff who choose not to participate in the SRO-led activity, please email me before Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm to let me know you prefer the alternate activity.  For the Blended Learning ALICE Part 2 modules for those who are not going to participate in the active modules, you will need your laptop and earbuds.
