Wellness Corner

Debbie sent out a fabulous communication about how to waive the 2018 prescription deductible.  It's worth another read!  Thank you, Debbie!

I don’t know about you, but it can be easy to skim or even skip Wellness emails from Julie Johnson during your busy day, because you’ll just read it later. But do you? Really? I don’t know that you won’t skip this too, but hey, I tried! While the general information included in my email has been sent by Julie Johnson, I want to make sure that you’ve seen this!

This year the district will NOT be hosting an on-site BCBS health screening at the various district buildings as in the past. These screenings are important for the information you receive about your health as well as qualifying you for the waived prescription deductible for the following year. While you hopefully schedule a physical exam each year, this year BCBS plan members must schedule an annual physical exam with their primary care physician to qualify for the waived 2018 prescription deductible. Plus your annual physical exam is FREE ($0 co-pay)!

I don’t know about your doctor, but my doctor always wants me to take my annual exam at least a year after my previous exam, telling me that otherwise insurance won’t pay for it. This is NOT true! Regardless of when you saw your doctor in 2016 for an annual physical exam, you can schedule an exam anytime in the 2017 calendar year and it will be covered by BCBS. You must schedule and complete your annual exam before the September 30th deadline to be eligible for the waived 2018 prescription deductible.

When you go to your physical exam, you have to take a Physician Manual Submission Form with you. Instructions for downloading the form from the BCBS website can be found by clicking HERE. Take the Physician Manual Submission Form with you when you go to your doctor, then submit the completed form by fax or email using the instructions on the form along with a copy of your lab work. If this sounds familiar, this was an option in previous years instead of going to the health screenings.

If you submit the Physician Manual Submission Form and lab results by September 30th  and take the online BCBS Health Risk Assessment (HRA) by October 15th, you will be eligible for your waived 2018 prescription deductible! I know this may seem early to be thinking about this, but with the stress of finishing up this school year, then summer vacations, and the stress of starting a new school year, September 30th will be here before you know it! Plus you need to leave time to get your lab results back in the mail! Contact me or Julie Johnson if you have questions!
